Box Score 2 LAS VEGAS, N.M. - Kaylynn Harmon (Erie, Colo./Erie H.S.) tied a school record with five hits in a 16-6 win at New Mexico Highlands as Metro State split two games in Las Vegas, N.M., on Saturday, falling 4-3 to UC-Colorado Springs in the first game. The Roadrunners are now 18-10 overall and 12-7 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
Harmon was 5-for-5, tying Sandy Beman's record from 1990 vs. UCCS. Harmon also drove in five runs and scored three times, while adding a pair of doubles.
The Roadrunners had 23 hits, falling two shy of the school record for the most in a game since 1990.
Kelsey Tillery (Windsor, Colo./Windsor H.S.),
Aubree Maul (Fort Collins, Colo./Rocky Mountain H.S.) and
Chelsea Brew (Colorado Springs/Rampart H.S.) each had three hits.
Susie Oury (Arvada, Colo./Arvada West H.S.),
Dani Sandel (Omaha, Neb./Westside H.S.),
Britney Thomas (Cheyenne, Wyo./East H.S.) and
Colissa Bakovich (Loveland, Colo./Loveland H.S.) each had two and all nine starters had at least one hit. Maul also belted a two-run home run and drove in four runs total.
Metro State finished with seven doubles, tying a school record.
MSU Denver trailed 4-0 after the top of the seventh vs. UCCS in the first game after committing six errors. A comeback came up just short. Oury's two-run single brought the Roadrunners within 4-3 and she reached second base with one out in the inning, but a pair of lineouts ended the game.
The three teams will play each other again on Sunday.
