Reilly Mau (Longmont, Colo./Longmont H.S.) each had three hits to lead Metro State to an 11-7 win over Colorado Christian on Sunday as the Roadrunners took the four-game series 3-1. MSU Denver improved to 10-17 overall and 8-14 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, while CCU fell to 7-25 and 6-16.
Ryan Baca (Loveland, Colo./Loveland H.S.) earned his second career win and second win of the weekend, allowing one run in four innings of relief.
The Roadrunners overcame an early 3-1 deficit, taking advantage of rain and snow in the third inning to score six runs with two outs when the weather turned ugly, taking advantage of two errors, two hit batters and a walk. Walker delivered a two-run single and scored on Mau's two-run double.
MSU Denver scored four more times in the fourth after
Darryl Baca (Loveland, Colo./Loveland H.S.) led off with a double.
Gavin Purvis (Albuquerque, N.M./Cibola H.S.),
Zac Baldini (Lakewood, Colo./Green Mountain H.S.), Walker and
Nick Comito (Lakewood, Colo./Mullen H.S.) each had RBI singles in the inning.
Eli Ford (Casper, Wyo./Kelly Walsh H.S.) closed out the game with a scoreless ninth inning.
Metro State will play at No. 22/13 Colorado Mesa next weekend.
