Box Score 2 LAS VEGAS, N.M. - Metro State's offense combined for 27 hits in two games as the Roadrunners earned a 14-2 win in five innings over New Mexico Highlands and a 7-1 victory against UC-Colorado Springs on Sunday in Las Vegas, N.M. The Roadrunners finished the weekend 3-1 and improved to 20-10 overall and 14-7 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
After tying a school record with five hits in Metro State's win against the New Mexico Highlands yesterday afternoon,
Kaylynn Harmon (Erie, Colo./Erie H.S.) continued her torrid pace, going 4-for-6 in the two games on Sunday with three doubles and a triple, while driving in four runs. She finished the weekend 9-fo-11 (.818) at the plate.
Dani Sandel (Omaha, Neb./Westside H.S.) and
Colissa Bakovich (Loveland, Colo./Loveland H.S.) also each had four hits between the two games on Sunday.
Metro State had 13 hits in the five-inning win over the Cowgirls as Bakovich went 2-for-3 with a double, a triple, three runs scored and three runs batted in.
Mary Towner (Arvada, Colo./Ralston Valley H.S.),
Kelsey Tillery (Windsor, Colo./Windsor H.S.), Harmon and
Britney Thomas (Cheyenne, Wyo./East H.S.) each had two hits as well.
The Roadrunners quickly overcame an early 1-0 deficit with three runs in the second, four in the third, five in the fourth and two in the fifth.
Katie Deaguero (Arvada, Colo./Pomona H.S.) provided the final two runs with her first career home run in the fifth.
Aubree Maul (Fort Collins, Colo./Rocky Mountain H.S.) earned the victory, allowing one run on one hit in three innings of relief.
Cassidy Smith (Loveland, Colo./Loveland H.S.) followed up Maul's performance with a complete game against UCCS, scattering eight hits and one run in seven innings.
Sandel went 3-for-5 with a double against the Mountain Lions, pacing 14 hits for the Roadrunners.
Susie Oury (Arvada, Colo./Arvada West H.S.), Harmon, Maul and Bakovich each had two hits.
MSU Denver scored a pair of runs in both the first and third innings to take a 4-0 lead.
Chelsea Brew (Colorado Springs/Rampart H.S.)'s two-run double in the fifth led to a three-run inning.
The Roadrunners return home to face Fort Lewis in four games next weekend.
