Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 CANYON, Texas - Metropolitan State University of Denver earned a 3-2 win over Tarleton State (Texas) before falling 2-0 to No. 1 West Texas A&M. The Roadrunners are now 7-3 on the season. TSU dropped to 7-3 after its loss to MSU Denver, while defending national champion West Texas A&M improved to 8-1 this season.

Cassidy Smith (Loveland, Colo./Loveland H.S.) and Nicole Larsen (Murrieta, Calif./Bloomington H.S.) combined on a two-hitter against TSU. Smith allowed one earned run and struck out two in six innings. Larsen retired all three batters she faced to pick up the save.

Britney Thomas (Cheyenne, Wyo./East H.S.) scored on a base hit by Lani Redmond (Chandler, Ariz./Corona del Sol H.S.) in the first inning for a 1-0 Roadrunners lead.

Trailing 2-1, Mary Towner (Arvada, Colo./Ralston Valley H.S.) drove in Susie Oury (Arvada, Colo./Arvada West H.S.) with a single to left, tying the game in the fifth inning. Chelsea Brew (Colorado Springs/Rampart H.S.) scored the winning run on an error in the bottom of the sixth.

Oury finished 2-for-4 with a triple.

Against West Texas A&M, Kenzie Mattey (Parker, Colo./Ponderosa H.S.) turned in a strong performance in the pitching circle. She allowed just two runs and six hits, while striking out four in six innings. The Lady Buffs entered the game averaging 15 runs over their previous three games.

Oury had two hits again to lead MSU Denver's offense.

MSU Denver will face Texas Woman's and No. 11 Angelo State on Sunday.
