Box Score 2 DURANGO, Colo. - Metropolitan State University of Denver used two strong pitching performance to win 8-3 and 9-0 (5 innings) at Fort Lewis on Saturday in Durango, Colorado. The Roadrunners improved to 26-10 overall and 17-5 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, while FLC fell to 13-22 and 11-13.
Cassidy Smith (Loveland, Colo./Loveland H.S.) allowed two earned runs and scattered seven hits in a complete game in Game 1, while
Kenzie Mattey (Parker, Colo./Ponderosa H.S.) followed up with a complete-game shutout, pitching all five innings and striking out three in Game 2.
The Roadrunners rallied from a 2-1 deficit with four runs in the second inning of Game 1. They didn't trail the rest of the day.
Susie Oury (Arvada, Colo./Arvada West H.S.) highlighted the second inning with a two-run double to score
Colissa Bakovich (Loveland, Colo./Loveland H.S.) and
Britney Thomas (Cheyenne, Wyo./East H.S.).

MSU Denver scored six times in the fourth inning as the first seven batters reached base. Bakovich and
Kaylynn Harmon (Erie, Colo./Erie H.S.) each had a double during the rally and Oury and Towner each had two-run singles.
Mattey pitched out of trouble in each inning as the Skyhawks left 10 runners on base.
MSU Denver will host UCCS next weekend in the final home conference series of the regular season.
