Denver- The Metropolitan State University of Denver women's softball team will begin conference play this weekend at home against Colorado State University-Pueblo on Saturday and Sunday here at the Regency Athletic Complex.

The Roadrunners will play doubleheaders against the Thunderwolves on both Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday, they will play game one at 12 p.m. and then turnaround and play game 2 at 2 p.m. The same will also hold true for Sunday's games, as they will play at 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. once again.

MSU Denver is coming off their second weekend in a row away from home, as they traveled to San Antonio, Texas for the Rattler Invitational hosted by St. Mary's University (TX). The Roadrunners split on the first day of the tournament beating #12 ranked Central Oklahoma 8-7 in nine innings, while falling to the host #10 ranked St. Mary's 3-2. On day two of the tournament the Roadrunners won both games, beating St. Edward's University 13-2 to begin the day, and then later on defeating Central Oklahoma 6-5, again in extra innings. The final day of the tournament saw the Roadrunners finish second place at the tournament as they fell to St. Mary's in the Championship game 5-2. The tournament marked the completion of non-conference play for MSU Denver, as they finished 6-7 overall.

CSU-Pueblo is currently 3-5 to begin the year and is on a three game losing skid. The Thunderwolves began their season competing in the Dixie State Classic in St. George, Utah. They went 2-2 over the course of the tournament beating Western New Mexico and Concordia (Ore.) on day two of the tournament, while losing to Central Washington and Dixie State and the first day. This past week they played doubleheaders against Colorado Christian on Thursday at home and on Saturday at Colorado Christian. During this span they went 1-3 with their only win coming in the first meeting at home 13-9.
