On This Date (April 5, 2014): Harmon Ties Program Record with 5 Hits

Team ties mark with seven doubles

DENVER – It was six years ago on this day that Kaylynn Harmon tied Sandy Beman's 24-year-old MSU Denver softball program record for hits in a game, going 5-for-5 with two doubles and five RBIs in a 16-6 win over New Mexico Highlands. No Roadrunners player has had five hits in a game since. The Roadrunners matched a program record with seven doubles in the game.
 
That performance highlights our latest installment of "On This Date in Roadrunners History," which looks back at the biggest accomplishments in MSU Denver athletics on that particular calendar day.

Also On This Date, April 5:
 
2019 Tabitha Porter, who was later named the RMAC Player of the Year for the second time in three seasons, defeated RMAC Preseason Player of the Year Kristen Kirby 6-2, 7-6 (8) in singles, and combined with Mackenzie Hotan to defeat Georgia Hansen and Maike Waldburger 
at No. 2 doubles, leading the MSU Denver women's tennis team to a 7-0 win over Colorado Mesa in the RMAC season opener.
 
2019 – Logan Soole doubled, tripled and homered and Austin Stone pitched a complete game as MSU Denver beat Colorado Christian 7-3 to win for the 15th time in 16 games.
 
2014 – MSU Denver's Belle Kiper set a school record in the women's triple jump with an effort of 11.34 meters (37 feet, 2 ½ inches) at the Air Force Relays.
 
2014 – Freshman Josh Graetz, ranked No. 39 nationally, extended his school-record winning streak at No. 1 singles to 12 matches with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Brandon Beardsley in a 7-2 men's tennis dual victory over Montana State-Billings.
 
2012 – Lucio Cangiano, ranked No. 37 nationally, defeated Brason Hollabaugh 6-1, 6-3 to lead the 41st-ranked MSU Denver men's tennis team to a 7-2 victory over Colorado Mesa. Cangiano also paired with Gabriel Vlahos for a 9-8 (5) victory over Jordan Lyden and Andres Hernandez at No. 1 doubles.
 
2008 – Ashley Johnson went 2-for-3 with two homers and four RBIs, including a go-ahead two-run blast in the fifth inning, as MSU Denver completed the sweep of a softball doubleheader against UCCS, 6-4. The Roadrunners won the opener 9-2.
 
2008 – MSU Denver's Todd Tolentino ran a season-best time of 16 minutes, 1.08 seconds in the 5,000 meters at the Tom Benich Classic, placing third among collegiate competitors.
 
2000 – The MSU Denver men's tennis team defeated Colorado College 9-0 in a non-conference dual. The Roadrunners, who were 13-6 overall and won the RMAC at 5-0, were led that season by Peter Lantz, who was 21-3 in singles (including 20-3 at No. 1) and was 20-4 in doubles with partner Michael Judd.
 
1995 – The MSU Denver baseball team swept a doubleheader from Wyoming, 6-4 and 10-4. Jason Riley led the Roadrunners' regulars that season with a .371 batting average, while Shawn Harpin was the top pitcher with a 4-3 record and a 5.68 ERA.
 
1989 – Trina McKee was 4-for-7 with six RBIs as MSU Denver swept a softball doubleheader from Colorado School of Mines 10-0 and 7-1.
