DENVER — Another historic honor came in for MSU Denver softball Friday morning as senior standout Cheyenne Prieto earned First Team All-South Central Region honors from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.
Prieto's selection capped off one of the most dominant offensive seasons in program history and added another major postseason accolade following her standout 2026 campaign for the Roadrunners.
The senior established herself as one of the premier hitters in NCAA Division II throughout the spring, finishing among the RMAC leaders in nearly every major offensive category.
Prieto led the conference in both on-base percentage (.597) and OPS (1.408) while ranking second in batting average (.476) and third in slugging percentage (.811). She also finished among the RMAC leaders in hits, home runs and walks, including a conference-best 42 walks during the season.
Her remarkable consistency at the plate helped power the Roadrunners offensively throughout the year while simultaneously rewriting portions of the MSU Denver record book.
Prieto's .597 on-base percentage established a new single-season program record, while her 42 walks also set a new school record. In addition, her .476 batting average ranks third all-time in program history, and her .811 slugging percentage now sits fifth in the MSU Denver record books.
The First Team All-Region recognition placed Prieto among the top players in the South Central Region and further solidified her place as one of the most accomplished offensive performers in recent program history.
Her honor also continued a strong postseason awards stretch for the Roadrunners following another competitive season in the RMAC.
