ATLANTA – MSU Denver's
Allie Navarette has been named WBCA Division II All-American honorable mention for women's basketball.
Navarette is one of 35 NCAA Division II players recognized across the nation by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association, which announced a 10-player first team and 25 honorable mention selections.
She is the third MSU Denver player to ever receive All-America honorable mention recognition from the WBCA, following Vanessa Edwards in 1995-96 and Jasmine Cervantes in 2011-12.
A senior transfer, Navarette earned Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Player of the Year honors this season after leading the league in scoring (21.2 points per game), free throws made (115) and free throws attempted (137). She ranked second in double-doubles (seven), defensive rebounds per game (6.8) and rebounds (155), third in rebounds per game (8.6), fourth in field-goal percentage (50.8) and fifth in free throw percentage (83.9). She was a four-time RMAC Offensive Player of the Week.
She is one of only two players in Division II to average at least 20.0 points and 8.0 rebounds while shooting at least 50 percent from the field and at least 70.0 percent from the free throw line.
A three-year star at Hawaii-Hilo before transferring to MSU Denver, Navarette has scored 1,767 career points, third among active Division II players, and also leads all players in Division II with 576 career made free throws and 695 career attempts while also ranking third in career scoring average (19.2), seventh with 39 double-doubles, ninth in free throw percentage at 82.9 and 10th in rebound average (9.1) and 11
th in rebounds (836).
