ORLANDO, Fla. – MSU Denver's
Laolu Oke has been named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District 6 team for NCAA Division II men's basketball.
The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference's Defensive Player of the Year, Oke was a six-time winner of the RMAC Defensive Player of the Week award, was All-RMAC first team as a player and was also Academic All-RMAC first team.
He finished fifth in NCAA Division II with 12.2 rebounds per game, a school record, and he also shot 67.6 percent on field goals for another school record.
He tied a school record with 20 rebounds in one game and had 10 double-doubles, including in seven of the season's final eight games.
He averaged double-double by scoring 11.3 points per game. He had a blocked dunk attempt that was shown on ESPN+, and he saved a win against Westminster with a blocked layup attempt at the final buzzer.
Oke has a cumulative grade point average of 3.58 while majoring in business management.
Oke is MSU Denver's first Academic All-District selection in men's basketball since 2015, but continues a long line of highly successful student-athletes in men's basketball.
Academic All-District team selected by CoSIDA recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom.
District 6 includes schools in the Rocky Mountain Athletic and Lone Star Conferences.
First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot. Academic All-America honorees will be announced in late May.
