@MSUDenverWSOC: Garcia, Sawaged, Zimmer Named All-RMAC First Team

Sirois makes second team, while Durkin and Teran make honorable mention

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Three MSU Denver women's soccer players have been named to the All-RMAC first team in voting by league coaches.

Midfielder Luna Garcia, forward Jaimy Sawaged and defender Elli Zimmer all earned first-team status. Meanwhile, defender Emily Sirois earned All-RMAC second team and midfielder Isa Durkin and forward Paloma Teran received honorable mention status.

It's the first time since 2008 that MSU Denver has had three All-RMAC first team players.

Zimmer earned All-RMC second team last year and this season the center back has anchored a defensive unit that has posted 12 shutouts and ranks 15th in NCAA Division II with a league-best goals-against average of 0.56. A deadly finisher on corner kicks as well as shots from distance, Zimmer also has four goals this season.

Both Zimmer and Sawaged were earlier named to the Academic All-RMAC first team.

Sawaged leads the team and ranks third in the RMAC with nine goals, and she has also added three assists for 21 points. She is tied for the RMAC lead and tied for 11th nationally with five game-winning goals, and she's third in the RMAC and 81st nationally in points. Sawaged is also third in the league and 89th nationally with 0.47 goals per game.

Garcia, who was All-RMAC honorable mention for the 2020 season before sitting out the 2021 campaign, has four goals and four assists this season. Two of her goals are game-winners. She's tied for eighth in the RMAC in assists.

Sirois, who has played both center back and outside back, has been a strong contributor to the Roadrunners' back line. Most notably, she held two-time RMAC Player of the Year (including this season) Lila Dere of Colorado Mesa without a shot in a key 1-0 victory on Oct. 16.
