GUNNISON, Colo. – The MSU Denver men's and women's indoor track & field teams each scored 19 points at the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championships, finishing eighth and ninth, respectively.
"This team fought hard for every point we scored today," MSU Denver coach
Janis Christopher said. "They raced like Roadrunners, with guts and grit. They sacrificed for their teammates and though aches, pains and even blisters. When things went well, they were humble and when things went poorly they showed true grace."
Highlighting the day for MSU Denver was a 2-4 finish by
Nick Nowlen and
Brandon Bodner in the men's 800 meters. Nowlen finished in 1 minute, 53.32 seconds, while Bodner clocked a 1:54.43 timing.
For the women,
Maya Ries once again broke her own school record in the 60 hurdles, finishing fifth in 9.00.
Allyssa Romero was sixth in the 400 in 58.77 and the 4x00 relay of
Kamryn Scott,
Raygen Ivins,
Audrynn Street and
Teagan Garand placed sixth in 4:04.63.
Also for the men,
Ethan Loper was sixth in the 200 (22.36) and
Anthony Martinez was seventh in the 60 hurdles (8.31).
Brant Killmon just missed scoring in both the high jump (10
th place, 1.95 meters) and the triple jump (12
th, 13.74).
"We are so thankful for all of our seniors who raced in their final indoor championships," Christopher said. "We will be forever grateful for Erin (Norton), Brandon and Kam's leadership and sacrifice.
"We are looking forward to carrying this momentum into the outdoor season."
