GOLDEN, Colo. – Abi Read ran a personal-best 3,000-meter time of 10 minutes, 59.40 seconds to finish in fourth place and highlight MSU Denver's opening night Friday at the Mines Winter Classic.
 
Vanessa Kort ran fifth in the same event for the Roadrunners.
 
For the men, Brant Killmon was seventh in the long jump with an effort of 6.76 meters (22 feet, 2 ¼ inches).
 
The distance medley relay placed fifth in 10:39.21.
 
The majority of the Roadrunners will be in action at Saturday's second day of the event.
