@MSUDenverMBB: Oke, Randall Sweep Player of the Week Awards

It's Randall's first career recognition, while Oke wins for the eighth time this season and 14th overall

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The MSU Denver men's basketball team swept the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference's player of the week awards, the league announced Monday.

Forward Laolu Oke won the RMAC Defensive Player of the Week award for the eighth time this season and the 14th time in his career. Meanwhile, wing Tyrei Randall earned his first career Offensive Player of the Week award.

MSU Denver suffered a Friday night loss to red-hot Colorado School of Mines, but bounced back to knock off Regis – ranked as high as No. 13 nationally – on Saturday.

Oke posted a strong double-double in the 87-81 win over Regis, capping a week in which he averaged 17.5 points and 10.0 rebounds. Against Regis, Oke turned in his 23rd career double-double (and 13th this season) with 18 points and 11 rebounds, and he also blocked two blocked shots. That followed up a solid night against Colorado School of Mines, in which he had 17 points, nine rebounds and one steal.

Oke also continued his incredible offensive efficiency -- he made 16 of 18 field goals for the weekend, including 9 of 9 against Regis -- and is a remarkable 41 of 47 from the field (87.2 percent) over his last five games, sending his field goal percentage for the season to 65.8 percent, second-best in the RMAC. He's first in the league with 11.4 rebounds per game.

Meanwhile Randall was on fire, particularly in the win over Regis, while averaging 23.0 points on 66.7 percent shooting (14 of 21) and an outstanding 72.7 percent from 3-point range (8 of 11).

Against Regis, Randall scored 28 points while making 8 of 10 from the field and 5 of 6 from 3, and he was also 7 of 8 from the free throw line. That backed up a solid night against Colorado School of Mines in which he was 6 of 11 from the field, 3 of 5 from 3 and made 3 of 5 foul shots.

In league play, Randall leads the RMAC in 3-point percentage at 44.9 (40 for 89) and ranks third with 2.7 made 3s per game.
