DENVER – MSU Denver men's soccer coach
Nick Kirchhof has announced the addition of
Cole Chapleski as a volunteer assistant coach and the promotion of previous volunteer assistant
Woo Jeon to assistant coach.
Chapleski, who was a graduate assistant for the Regis women's team for two seasons while earning his master's in organizational leadership, is a former University of Denver team captain who was the Gatorade High School Player of the Year for Broomfield High School.
As a volunteer assistant, Chapleski helped Broomfield to the Class 5A state championship in 2019. Prior to that, he was a team head coach and player development program director for two years each at both for the Colorado Rapids Youth Soccer Club and for the Colorado Rush Soccer Club.
He served as the Director of Soccer Operations at his alma mater, the University of Denver for the 2014 and 2015 seasons. As a player for the Pioneers, Chapleski trained under Kirchhof, who as the time was DU's director of soccer operations. Chapleski was an All-Summit League first team player for Denver and helped the team set numerous program records. He had four goals and three assists for a 13-3-4 team in 2013, three goals and two assists as the team went 11-6-3 in 2012, one goal and one assist in 2011 and made 15 appearances for the 2010 team.
Besides Broomfield, Chapleski also played for the Colorado Rush Academy and was a state champion and NSCAA All-American in addition to being the Colorado Gatorade.
Jeon joined the MSU Denver men's soccer program as a volunteer assistant coach in August, 2021.
In his first full season with the Roadrunners, he helped the team to a 4-0-1 finish in the final five games of the regular season in 2021, as the team qualified for the RMAC Tournament for the first time since 2018. The Roadrunners were 8-9-2 overall and 5-4-1 in the RMAC, good for fifth place.
Prior to MSU Denver, he had spent three years serving as the associate head coach at Black Rock FC Residential Academy at Northwood School in Lake Placid, N.Y. He helped produce six high school All-Americans while achieving a No. 2 national ranking finish in prep high school boys soccer (Top Drawer) in his first year. He also led the team to a 2019/20 IMG Cup U20 Championship and a semifinal finish in the U19 Dallas Cup.
He played collegiately at Kenyon (Ohio) from 2014 through 2017, appearing in four NCAA Division III Tournaments, including two trips to the national quarterfinals and another appearance in the round of 16. He played high school soccer for Madison (Wis.) West and his exploits included a hat trick to help send the Regents to a sectional final.
