DENVER – The MSU Denver men's soccer team has qualified for the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Tournament.
The Roadrunners needed Colorado Christian to win, tie or lose by one goal or less to Colorado School of Mines on Sunday, and CCU earned a 2-1 victory that knocked Mines out of playoff contention.
MSU Denver, 7-7-4 overall and 5-3-2 in the RMAC, which is unbeaten in its last six games (4-0-2), has earned the sixth and final seed.
The Roadrunners will play Thursday at third-seeded CSU Pueblo (12-4-2, 6-3-1). CSU Pueblo, the 2022 national runner-up, despite tying for second in the RMAC and being seeded third, is ranked No. 6 in Division II. The ThunderWolves were 2-0 winners against MSU Denver when the teams played in Pueblo in the Sept. 28 league opener.
Thursday's starting time has yet to be announced.
Fort Lewis was the league's outright champion with 21 points, while Colorado Mesa and CSU Pueblo each had 19 points (Mesa won the tiebreaker based on goals scored in league play). UCCS and Westminster tied for fourth with 18 points, with UCCS winning that tiebreaker based on a head-to-head victory.
