GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas – Mia Salas was fifth individually in the women's race and the MSU Denver men finished fifth in the team standings on Saturday at the massive DBU Old Glory Gallop.
JJ Ramey finished eighth individually, and
Noel Lopez placed 15
th, to lead the Roadrunners' men. Ramey ran eight kilometers in 24 minutes, 23 seconds, while Lopez finished in 24:36.
Salas' fifth-place time for five kilometers in the 418-runner women's race was 17:24, and that helped the Roadrunners finish eighth among 46 teams.
The men's race included 41 teams and an even 400 racers.
MSU Denver's fifth-place team total was 176 points, just behind host Dallas Baptist's 172. Twins Jordan and
Jonathan Duran were 39
th and 42
nd respectively, with times of 25:08 and 25:16, while
Shota Yabuuchi was 80
th in 25:50.
For the women, freshman
Marin Smith was an impressive 33
rd in 18:16,
Marissa Bruno was 60
th in 18:42,
Lexi McAfee placed 64
th in 18:44 and
Ellie Shaw was 97
th in 19:09. The Roadrunners had a team total of 240 points.
Also Saturday, another group of MSU Denver runners competed at the Ted Castaneda Classic in Colorado Springs, Colo.
The Roadrunners' men, led by
Charlie Geisler's 37
th-place result, finished fifth among six teams. Geisler ran 8K in 27:34.10, while
Ty Schauer was 43
