DENVER – The MSU Denver men's cross country team placed 11th out of 24 teams with 322 points and the women's team placed 12th out of 25 teams with 322 points at the 2024 NCAA DII South Central Cross Country Regional Championships held at Washington Park on Saturday afternoon.
Mia Salas was the top finisher for the women's team placing 33rd overall in the 6,000-meter race with a time of 23:09.2.
Audrynn Street was the second Roadrunner to cross the finish line with a time of 24:09.4 to place 65th.
Peyton Meier and
Marissa Bruno finished 71st and 72nd overall with times of 24:18.2 and 24:19.7, respectively.
Ellie Shaw was the final member of the team to score points placing 81st with a time of 24:38.3.
The men's team finished in a tighter pack than the women's team with only 21 positions between the top finisher and the final point scorer.
JJ Ramey was the top finisher for MSU Denver placing 56th in the 10,000-meter race in a time of 33:26.8.
Jordan Duran was 67th and
Noel Lopez was 69th with times of 33:57.1 and 34:02.1, respectively.
Jonathan Duran was four places behind his brother in 71st with a time of 34:05.5. Rounding out the scoring for the Roadrunners was
Darren Hayden who posted a time of 34:16.6 to place 77th.
After a snow storm moved through the Denver area on Friday forcing a delay to the start of the races, teams took to a course that had been cleared with the help of Denver Parks and Recreation.
