Garrett, Lacy, Jr., earn honorable mention nods

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Guard Brayden Maldonado and forward Caleb McGill have both been named to the All-RMAC first team in men's basketball, representing the first time since 2014-15 MSU Denver has had two players named to the league's first team.
 
In addition, both forward Mario Lacy, Jr., and guard KJ Garrett have been named All-RMAC honorable mention.
 
The last time MSU Denver had two first-team selections by the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, it was All-Americans Mitch McCarron and Nick Kay.
 
Maldonado is averaging 16.8 points, 4.1 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.7 steals while shooting 34.4 percent from 3-point range (54 of 157) 89.1 percent at the free throw line (131 of 147). He's eighth in the league in scoring, second in free throw percentage and fifth in steals. The 2022-23 RMAC Co-Freshman of the Year was named RMAC Offensive Player of the Week once this season. In two seasons he's scored 724 points, and he's the program's all-time leader with a career free throw percentage of 86.7 (189 of 218).
 
McGill averages 15.7 points and 5.4 rebounds while shooting 53.3 percent from the field (154 of 289) and 81.4 percent at the free throw line (92 of 113). He ranks 11th in the RMAC in scoring, 12 th in rebounds and eighth in field goal percentage. He was twice named RMAC Offensive Player of the Week. In two seasons he's scored 826 points to rank 29th in program history, and he's ninth in program history with an average of 14.8 points per game.
 
Lacy is averaging 10.9 points and 8.0 rebounds while shooting 63.0 percent from the field (126 of 200). He's second in the RMAC in both categories. He also recently surpassed 1,000 career rebounds and is a two-time RMAC Defensive Player of the Week.
 
Garrett averages 10.6 points and 3.0 assists while shooting 54.6 percent from the field (100 of 183) and 47.1 percent from 3 (16 of 34). He's ninth in the RMAC in assists and fifth in assist-to-turnover ratio (+1.6), and was named the RMAC Defensive Player of the Week once this season.
