INDIANAPOLIS – MSU Denver's Naleia Sowell has been selected to compete in the NCAA Division II National Outdoor Track & Field Championships in the women's 400 meters.
 
Sowell's top time of 54.40 seconds in the event ranks 20^th among 24 qualifiers in the event. The championships are May 23 through 25 in Emporia, Kan. She'll run a first-round race on May 23 at 5:55 p.m. CDT. The final is scheduled for May 25 at 3:15 CDT.
 
Sowell is MSU Denver's first women's qualifier for the Outdoor Championships since 2015, when Breanna Hemming placed 12^th in the 1,500 meters. She's the Roadrunners' first-ever qualifier in a race less than 1,500 and the program's fourth-ever individual qualifier.
