Naleia Sowell has been selected to compete in the NCAA Division II National Outdoor Track & Field Championships in the women's 400 meters.
Sowell's top time of 54.40 seconds in the event ranks 20
th among 24 qualifiers in the event. The championships are May 23 through 25 in Emporia, Kan. She'll run a first-round race on May 23 at 5:55 p.m. CDT. The final is scheduled for May 25 at 3:15 CDT.
Sowell is MSU Denver's first women's qualifier for the Outdoor Championships since 2015, when Breanna Hemming placed 12
th in the 1,500 meters. She's the Roadrunners' first-ever qualifier in a race less than 1,500 and the program's fourth-ever individual qualifier.
