COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Six members of the MSU Denver men's and women's programs have been named to the All-RMAC Outdoor Track & Field teams.
The list is led by RMAC women's outdoor 400 champion
Naleia Sowell, who is on the first team.
The All-RMAC teams are based solely on placements at the RMAC Outdoor Championships, with first- through third-place finishers named to the first team, and fourth- through sixth-place finishers making the second team. First-place relays are named to the first team, and second-place relays make the second team.
Sowell, MSU Denver's first individual qualifier for Division II Outdoor National Championships since 2015, won the 400 with a track- and school-record time of 54.30 seconds.
All-RMAC second-team selections are, for the women,
Allyssa Romero (400),
Maya Ries (100 hurdles) and
Grace Solarin (hammer throw) and, for the men,
Sean Pecenka (110 hurdles) and
Isaiah Williams (high jump).
Romero, who made the All-RMAC second team in three events outdoors last season, was fifth in the 400 in 56.04.
Ries, who has twice been All-RMAC first team outdoors, was fifth in the 110 hurdles in 14.30.
Solarin capped a strong sophomore season with a sixth-place school-record hammer heave of 50.12 meters (164 feet, 5 inches).
For the men, Pecenka capped his strong sophomore season by placing sixth in the 110 hurdles in 14.93.
And Williams finished off an excellent freshman campaign by finishing sixth in the high jump with a leap of 1.89 (6-2 ¼).
