@MSUDenverWSOC: Roadrunners Up to Third in Region Poll, Receive Votes for National Top 25

MSU Denver plays home games Thursday against Regis and Sunday against Black Hills State

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The MSU Denver women's soccer team gave up its first goal and suffered its first loss of the season Sunday against then-No. 7 Cal Poly Pomona, but once again has received votes in the United Soccer Coaches' Division II top 25 poll, and moved up in the USC's South Central Region rankings.

The Roadrunners jumped from No. 6 to No. 3 in the South Central Region.

MSU Denver, 1-1-4, opened the week with a 0-0 tie at Angelo State (Texas) before losing at home, 3-0, to Cal Poly Pomona, which moved up to No. 5 nationally. MSU Denver, which received votes in the national poll two weeks ago, also played current No. 10 Dallas Baptist to a 0-0 tie earlier this season.

The USC region poll isn't affiliated with the official NCAA region rankings that are released during the final three weeks of the season and are ultimately used to determine at-large bids to the NCAA Tournament.

The Roadrunners open Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference action with a pair of home games this week, squaring off with crosstown rival Regis (1-4-1) on Thursday at 6 p.m. and Black Hills State (0-3-2) at 11 a.m. Sunday.
