TYLER, Texas — NCAA Tournament baseball returns for MSU Denver on Thursday afternoon at 2 p.m. MT as the sixth-seeded Roadrunners open play in the NCAA Division II South Central Regional against No. 3 seed Angelo State University at the campus of regional host and No. 2 seed University of Texas at Tyler.
MSU Denver enters the postseason with a 38-16 overall record after advancing to the later rounds of the RMAC Tournament, while Angelo State comes into regional play at 40-17 overall following its run through the Lone Star Conference season.
The matchup marks the fourth NCAA Tournament appearance in the last five seasons for the Roadrunners, who earned an at-large bid into the regional field after putting together another strong regular season in one of Division II's toughest conferences.
The Roadrunners head back to Tyler for the second consecutive season after also competing at the same regional site in 2025.
MSU Denver's offense has consistently powered the team throughout the spring, led by several veteran contributors who helped guide the Roadrunners back into the national tournament field. On the mound, the Roadrunners will look to a pitching staff that has delivered quality depth throughout the year. All-RMAC Selections Jake Syverson, Alejandro Maltos-Garcia, and Carter Swan headline the staff.
Angelo State enters the regional after another strong campaign in the Lone Star Conference and will provide one of the toughest opening-round tests in the tournament field. The Rams reached the 40-win mark this season and earned the region's No. 3 seed after consistently ranking among the top teams in the South Central throughout the year.
Thursday's matchup begins a double-elimination regional tournament featuring some of the top programs in NCAA Division II baseball, with the winner advancing deeper into the bracket and moving one step closer to a Super Regional berth.
