PUEBLO, Colo. — The MSU Denver Roadrunners turned in a strong two-day performance at the Chuck Haering Invitational, hosted by CSU Pueblo on Friday and Saturday, highlighted by multiple event victories and a record-breaking performance from Kai Luna.
Luna delivered the standout moment of the meet for the Roadrunners, winning the men's triple jump with a mark of 14.96 meters while breaking the MSU Denver school record. He also competed in the long jump, adding a 17th-place finish to cap off an impressive weekend.
MSU Denver athletes claimed several event titles across the meet. On the women's side, Kathryn Rust captured first place in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.12, showcasing her versatility by also placing in the 400 meters and multiple throwing events. Andrea Davis added another victory in the women's high jump, clearing 1.68 meters to take the top spot.
On the men's side, Anthony Martinez led a dominant showing in the 110-meter hurdles, winning the event in 14.53, while teammate Sean Pecenka added a fifth-place finish. Distance standout Eisen Dacus also earned a victory for the Roadrunners, taking first in the men's 3000 meters with a time of 9:15.97 after previously placing eighth in the 800 meters.
The Roadrunners saw several additional podium and top-three finishes. Odone Omofoma sprinted to a second-place finish in the women's 100 meters (11.78), while Isaiah Williams placed third in the men's high jump (2.00m). The men's 4x100-meter relay team of Mekhi Hubbard, Anthony Martinez, Kenny Greene, and Tashie secured third place with a time of 41.55. Kathryn Rust also added a third-place finish in the women's shot put.
Across the meet, MSU Denver displayed depth in both track and field events. In the sprints, Kenny Greene led the men's 100-meter group with a sixth-place finish, while De'Aundrae Harris
and Mekhi Hubbard both posted top-10 finishes in the 200 meters. Arianna Toaipa paced the women in the 200 meters with a fifth-place finish and contributed to the 4x400-meter relay.
In distance events, Ellie Shaw recorded a strong seventh-place finish in the women's 1500 meters, while Braden Medina and Parker Davidson led the men in the same event. Payton Rusk and Alexandra Dounmanov competed in both the 5K and 5000 meters, gaining valuable experience.
The Roadrunners' throwers also contributed solid marks throughout the weekend. Raziah Hyslop led the women in the discus with a seventh-place finish and added multiple top-10 performances across events. Andre Henry and Brandon Simpson paced the men's throws group in discus, shot put, and javelin.
Overall, MSU Denver combined record-breaking performances, event victories, and numerous top finishes in a well-rounded showing at CSU Pueblo. The Roadrunners will look to build on this momentum as the outdoor season continues.
