@MSUDenverBSB: Wicks Earns Second Player of the Week Honor

NCBWA Tabs Wicks as South Central Regional Hitter of the Week

DENVER — MSU Denver baseball saw its offensive surge earn recognition on a larger stage Wednesday afternoon, as Noah Wicks was named the Division II NCBWA South Central Region Hitter of the Week following his dominant performance in the Roadrunners' series sweep of New Mexico Highlands.

Wicks powered the MSU Denver offense to a perfect 4-0 weekend, helping extend the team's winning streak to 14 games while improving to 16-0 in RMAC play. The junior catcher delivered one of the most impressive weeks in the region, going 13-for-17 (.765) at the plate with 12 runs scored, eight RBIs, three doubles, and a triple. He earned RMAC Player of the Week honors yesterday afternoon.

The honor marks the second time this season a Roadrunner has earned regional recognition, joining pitcher Brayden McCollough, who collected a weekly award earlier in the year.

Wicks' standout weekend was highlighted by a historic showing in the series opener, when he went a perfect 6-for-6 with five RBIs and four runs scored. He finished just a home run shy of the cycle, recording the most hits in a single game by a Roadrunner since last season when Gavin Schmeh hit for the cycle with six hits.

He continued his torrid pace throughout the series, including a flawless 4-for-4 performance in the final game, crossing the plate five times as part of a record-setting offensive outburst. MSU Denver erupted for 29 runs in that contest—the most scored in a game this season by any RMAC team—capping off a weekend in which the Roadrunners overwhelmed New Mexico Highlands from start to finish. MSU Denver leads the nation in batting average at a .369 clip.

Through his remarkable stretch, Wicks has solidified himself as one of the top hitters not only in the RMAC, but across the nation. He currently leads the conference in batting average (.495), on-base percentage (.597), and OPS (1.480), anchoring a lineup that continues to produce at an elite level. The backstop also ranks second in Division II for batting average, second in on-base percentage, and fifth in slugging.

With Wicks leading the charge, MSU Denver continues to roll through conference play, combining dominant pitching with explosive offense as it builds momentum deeper into the season.
