DENVER, Colo. -
Regis University hit four home runs and had 16 hits as the visiting Rangers knocked off Metro State 12-3 on Tuesday in a non-conference game at Metro State.  Regis improved to 6-7 overall, while Metro State fell to 8-6.

The Roadrunners jumped out to a 1-0 lead after Chris Redding (Northglenn, Colo./Northglenn H.S.) scored on Zach Krueger (Holyoke, Colo./Holyoke H.S.)'s double down the left field line in the first inning, but the Rangers added six straight runs over the next two innings, taking a 6-1 lead into the fifth.  The Rangers roughed Metro State starter Tony Weber (Elizabeth, Colo./Elizabeth H.S.) up for seven hits and six runs in just three innings.  Alex Haag drilled a two-run line drive home run in the second and Max Regalado belted a three-run shot in the third.

The Roadrunners climbed back into the game in the fifth and sixth, adding single runs each inning.  Jacob Trimble (Danville, Ill./Schlarman H.S.) singled with one out in the fifth and scored on a single through the right side by No. 2 hitter Mike Coffey (Highlands Ranch, Colo./ThunderRidge H.S.), but Redding and Coffey were both stranded in scoring position to end the threat.

Metro State again left a pair of runners in scoring position in the sixth after Brennan Brown (Thornton, Colo./Legacy H.S.) scored with two outs as the Regis first baseman dropped a throw that would have ended the inning.

Sean Walter (Wiggins, Colo./Wiggins H.S.) cruised breezed through three shutout innings of relief, striking out four.  But Regis struck again in the seventh as Pat Farrell hit a solo home run in the seventh off Tyler Hensen (Lakewood, Colo./Bishop Machebeuf H.S.).

Metro State had an opportunity to get back in the game in the seventh as Marcel Dominguez (Carlsbad, N.M./Carlsbad H.S.) led off with a single and Krueger was hit with the next pitch.  But Regis went to its bullpen as Bryant Asnicar struck out the next three batters to end the threat.

The Rangers added five off Ross MacDonald (Las Vegas, Nev./Bonanza H.S.) in the eighth as Jesus Arzaga hit a two-run triple to left-center and J.T. Putt followed with a towering home run to left-center to put the visitors in front 12-3.

The Roadrunners went down in order in the eighth and ninth.

Krueger had two of Metro State's seven hits in the loss and his double was the team's only extra-base hit.

Metro State will travel to No. 26 New Mexico Highlands for a three-game series in Las Vegas, N.M., on Friday and Saturday.  The two teams are tied for first place in the RMAC Mountain Division.
