DENVER -
The No. 3 Metro State women's soccer team used a big second half to beat Colorado Christian 2-0 at home on Sunday.  The win moved the Roadrunners to 7-1-1 overall this season and 3-1-1 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, while the Cougars fell to 1-8-0 and 1-4-0 in the RMAC.

It was a tale of two completely different halfs on Sunday as Metro State came out with a sluggish first half and the two teams played evenly before the intermission.  Despite the balance of ball control, Metro State held a 12-4 shot advantage at half.  But both teams had scoring chances.

Metro State goalkeeper Alee Seehausen (Mesa, Ariz./Mountain View H.S.) made two saves, including a diving stop, in the first 15 minutes of the game to keep the game scoreless.

A free kick from Taylor Nicholls (Littleton, Colo./Heritage H.S.) from 25 yards out hit the crossbar in the 23rd minute to keep the Roadrunners off the board.  CCU goalkeeper Liana Signorile made four saves in the first half.

The second half was dominated by Metro State, with the Roadrunners holding possession nearly the entire period.  They attempted three shots in the first 10 minutes before Madison McQuilliams (Bakersfield, Calif./Bakersfield H.S.) ended the scoreless tie in the 60th minute by scoring from inside the box after receiving a through ball from Nicholls.

Aleah DeGeneres (Littleton, Colo./Chatfield H.S.) scored nine minutes later as she put in Nicholls' corner kick from the right side that deflected off the far post.  Signorile came up big for CCU to keep it a 2-0 game, making eight saves in the second half, including six off shots coming from inside the box.

Metro State out-shot CCU 14-0 in the second half and 26-4 in the game.  Ashley Nemmers (Arvada, Colo./Arvada West H.S.) attempted 10 shots, one short of a career high.

For Nicholls, it was the first multi-assist game of her career.  McQuilliams moved into a tie for eighth place all-time at Metro State in points with the two points from her goal.  She currently has 74 points, tying her with Jen Thomas (Aurora, Colo./Greeley West H.S.) (2008-09).  The goal also moved her out of a tie and into 10th place by herself in career goals with her 26th.

The Roadrunners will travel to Nebraska-Kearney for a 1 p.m. (CDT) game next Sunday.
