PUEBLO, Colo. - The Metro State baseball team won a non-conference baseball game 6-5 at Colorado State-Pueblo on Tuesday. The Roadrunners improved to 14-7 overall, while CSUP fell to 14-12.

Zach Krueger (Holyoke, Colo./Holyoke H.S.) led the game off with a double and scored on a sacrifice fly by
Jordan Stouffer (Fort Collins, Colo./Rocky Mountain H.S.) for the early lead. The Roadrunners took a 2-0 lead in the second after a bases-loaded walk to Stouffer.
The ThunderWolves tied it up with two in the bottom of the second.
Metro State took the lead back in the top of the fifth as
Evan Claus (Albuquerque, N.M./Eldorado H.S.) scored an unearned run and
Jake Danneffel (Las Vegas, Nev./Bonanza H.S.) drove in another with a double to bring home
Brennan Brown (Thornton, Colo./Legacy H.S.).
CSUP answered with three in the bottom of the inning to take a 5-4 lead.
Metro State then took a 6-5 lead in the top of the seventh, a score that remained through the rest of the game.
Mike Coffey (Highlands Ranch, Colo./ThunderRidge H.S.) drove in Stouffer with a single to right to tie the game. Danneffel then homered to left for the game-winning home run.
Alex Hill (Casper, Wyo./Kelly Walsh H.S.) earned the victory, throwing two of Metro State's four shutout innings of relief. He struck out two.
Ty Jacobs (Denver/Cherokee Trail H.S.) picked up his third save, fanning one in the ninth.
Starter
Nate Van Bibber (Littleton, Colo./Douglas County H.S.) earned a no-decision after allowing five runs in five innings, though he walked just one.
Offensively,
David Kaplan (Colorado Springs, Colo./Doherty H.S.) led the team with three hits. Danneffel had two.
Metro State will host Regis University for a four-game conference series this weekend.
