On This Date (Sept. 15, 2000): Gallardo Goes for Four Goals

His eight-point game was just the third in program history

DENVER – It was 20 years ago today, Sept. 15, 2000, that Danny Gallardo had four goals for the third four-goal, eight-point individual game in program history as the MSU Denver men's soccer team rolled to a 4-1 win over Colorado Christian
 
The Roadrunners improved to 5-0 overall and 2-0 in the RMAC. Gallardo's first two goals came at 6:51 and 7:44 on assists by Jonathan Gillie.
 
That performance highlights our latest installment of "On This Date in Roadrunners History," which looks back at the biggest accomplishments in MSU Denver athletics on that particular calendar day.
 
Also On This Date, Sept. 15:
 
2018 – Sam Berg and Erica Ruiz each finished sixth, leading the MSU Denver men's and women's cross country teams at the Mountaineer Invitational in Gunnison, Colo.
 
2017 – Tabitha Porter, Courtney Wright and Emily Kerr all went 4-0 (two singles wins, two doubles wins) as the MSU Denver women's tennis team beat Fort Hays State (Kan.) and Texas-Permian Basin by identical 7-2 scores.
 
*2014 – The MSU Denver women's golf team shot a program-record score of 311 to take a six-stroke lead after the first day of the Colorado Christian/RMAC Event No. 1 at the Raccoon Creek Golf Course. Cha Cha Wilhoite shot a 3-over 75 and was in second place.
 
2014 – Josh Belfrage had a goal and an assist as the No. 15 MSU Denver men's soccer team defeated Dallas Baptist 4-1 to improve to 3-0.
 
2013 – For the fifth time in program history, the MSU Denver women's soccer team prevented its opponent from even taking a shot while claiming a 1-0 win against Emporia State (Kan.) to improve to 2-0-2. Brandi Farley scored for the Roadrunners, who took 30 shots and put 10 on goal.
 
2013 – Andy Lopez scored at 78:28 as the MSU Denver men's soccer team won 1-0 at Newman (Kan.) to improve to 2-1-1 for the season.
 
2012 – Amy Wong had 14 kills as the No. 9 MSU Denver volleyball team defeated Black Hills State 3-0 (25-20, 25-14, 25-18) in the RMAC opener.
 
2011 – Lauren Quijano had 12 kills and five blocks as the No. 7 MSU Denver volleyball team won 3-0 (25-13, 25-12, 25-22) at Colorado Mesa in its RMAC opener.
 
2007 – Julie Green-McFarland had 15 kills and Stephanie Levi set 44 assists as the MSU Denver volleyball team won 3-0 (30-22, 30-22, 30-26) at Colorado School of Mines.
 
2007 – Todd Tolentino finished 10th to lead the MSU Denver men's cross country team at the Colorado State Classic. Tolentino ran 4 miles in 20 minutes, 55.8 seconds.
 
*2006 – Kylee Hanavan had two goals and two assists as the No. 2 MSU Denver women's soccer team defeated CSU-Pueblo 6-0 to improve to 8-0 for the season while extending its unbeaten streak to 55.
 
2006 – Julie Green-McFarland had 15 kills on .464 hitting as the MSU Denver volleyball team defeated Chadron State 3-0 (30-24, 31-29, 30-20).
 
2006 – Antonio Porras scored two goals and Wynne Mason had a goal and two assists as the MSU Denver men's soccer team defeated UCCS 6-1 for its third straight win to improve to 5-2 for the season and 3-1 in the RMAC.
 
2006 – The MSU Denver men's tennis team lost only three games in a season-opening 9-0 win over Colorado Christian.
 
2002 – Amy Leichliter had a hat trick as the MSU Denver women's soccer team won 5-2 at Fort Lewis to improve to 5-1 overall and 3-0 in the RMAC.
 
2001 – Marina Bazana had 20 kills on .548 hitting and added 13 digs as the MSU Denver volleyball team won 3-0 (30-23, 30-14, 30-24) over Chadron State.
 
2000 – Julie Armstrong scored at 11:07 and Bridget Gallagher had 11 saves as the MSU Denver women's soccer team won 1-0 at Midwestern State (Texas) for its fourth straight victory.
 
1996 – Julie Ray scored the game-winner as the MSU Denver women's soccer team defeated CSU-Pueblo 2-1 in overtime.
 
1993 – Jen Duran and Rosie Durbin each scored two goals as the MSU Denver women's soccer team won 4-0 at Colorado Christian.
 
1992 – Jay Roberts and Adam Smith scored second-half goals as the MSU Denver men's soccer team defeated Denver 3-1 to improve to 4-0 overall and 2-0 in the Colorado Athletic Conference.
 
1991 – Kent Nelke had a goal and an assist as the MSU Denver men's soccer team started its program-record 12-game home winning streak with a 2-0 victory over Fort Lewis to improve to 4-1-1 for the season.
 
1989 – Becky Kofoed had 18 kills, 15 digs and six blocks as the No. 14 MSU Denver volleyball team won 3-1 (15-11, 11-15, 15-9, 15-10) at Alaska-Anchorage.
 
1988 – Joe Okoh had two goals and an assist as the MSU Denver men's soccer team defeated St. Mary's of the Plains (Kan.) 6-0 to improve to 3-0-1.
