COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – MSU Denver had track & field athletes competing in two different meets on Saturday, and some outstanding performances came from each venue.
At the Air Force Invitational,
PJ Guidry turned in the fourth-best triple jump performance in program history, finishing fourth in the event with a leap of 13.60 meters (44 feet, 7 1 /2 inches). It was Guidry's second-best effort in the event – only former RMAC champion Robert Carlson has turned in a better effort in the events as a Roadrunner.
Also at Air Force,
Ethan Loper turned in the 10th-best 200 time in program history, finishing second in 21.97 seconds with his second-fastest time ever.
For the women,
Kamryn Scott posted a program top-10 400 time for the second straight day, finishing seventh in 59.97. Scott ran a personal-best 59.80 in qualifying Friday, and her Saturday finish is tied for seventh in MSU Denver history.
Meanwhile, across town at the UCCS Invitational,
Allyssa Romero also put up a top-10 400 time, finishing fourth in 1:00.07. It's Romero's fourth-best time in the event and is tied for ninth all-time among Roadrunners.
Jaivion Lattimore finished fourth in the 200 in 26.63, her second-best time individually in the event and just off the top 10 in program history. Romero finished sixth in 26.73.
Erin Norton, who qualified for Indoor Nationals in the both the 3,000 and 5,000 meters last season, won the mile Saturday in 5:12.33. With the conversion for altitude and track size, Norton's mark of 5:00.38 ranks 23
rd in NCAA Division II this season. Meanwhile, in the 800
Audrynn Street was second (2:25.87) and
Graciela Leal third (2:27.81).
For the men,
Brandon Bodner joined Norton as an event winner, running the 800 in 1:57.26. With the conversion, Bodner ranks 49
th in the country at 1:54.56.
In other distance events,
Colin Szuch was second in the mile (4:29.03), with
Tommy Gilfillan fifth (4:33.80) and
Yonatan Kefle sixth (4:36.82). Kefle also finished fourth in the 800 (2:01.29).
JJ Ramey finished sixth in the 3,000 meters in 9:19.61.
Meanwhile, freshman
Anthony Martinez – the second-best individual in program history in the 60 hurdles – improved on his career best while finishing third in 8.44.
