NCBWA names Ralston to second team, Anderson to third

PEMBROKE, N.C. – MSU Denver's Bill Ralston and Chase Anderson have earned Preseason All-America recognition from the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.
 
Ralston has been named to the Preseason All-America second team at third base, while Anderson has been named to the All-America third team at second base.
 
Both had previously been named Preseason All-South Central Region by the NCBWA.
 
Ralston was named All-American third team by the American Baseball Coaches Association last season after earning All-South Central Region first team recognition from three organizations.
 
Also an All-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference first team selection, Ralston's national rankings include 22nd in runs (53) and 31st in RBIs (52).
 
In the RMAC, the sophomore ranked sixth in batting (.395), tied for seventh in RBIs (52) and tied for eighth in homers (11) as well as first in sacrifice flies (six), second in walks (29), sixth in runs (53), seventh in on-base percentage (.484), eighth in hits (60), 10th in total bases (105) and 11th in slugging percentage (.691).
 
Anderson was named to the D2CCA All-America second team last season at the utility (non-pitcher) position. Previously the Division II Conference Commissioners Association had named Anderson to the All-South Central Region first team.

Anderson started games at five positions, primarily in left field (19) and second base (18), but also in right field (four), third base (two) and in center field (one). He posted top-100 rankings in Division II in runs (seventh), walks (36th), hits (45th), doubles (64th) and total bases (80th).
 
In the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, he ranked first in walks (32), third in runs (59), fourth in hits (63), fifth in stolen bases (12), seventh in doubles (14), eighth in on-base percentage (.480) and 11th in total bases (103), while batting .377 with eight homers and 29 RBIs.
 
The Roadrunners' leadoff hitter opened the season with 20-game hitting streak, and he reached base by hit or walk in all but two games during a 34-10 season.
