NEW ORLEANS – Three MSU Denver student-athletes have been named All-Academic Athletes by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association.
Anthony Martinez and
Nick Nowlen from the men's team and
Erin Norton from the women's program have earned the distinction.
Additionally, the MSU Denver women's program has earned All-Academic Team recognition from the USTFCCCA.
To be eligible for the individual award student-athletes must:
· Have a minimum cumulative grade point average of a 3.25 on a 4.0 scale through the end of the semester of competition.
· Must have completed at least 24 semester hours/36 quarter hours through the end of the semester of competition at the institution.
· The student-athlete must have achieved an automatic-or provisional qualifying mark (individual or relay event) for either the indoor season or outdoor season.
Nowlen posted provisional qualifying times in the 800 meters both indoors (he was a national qualifier) and outdoors, and Martinez hit the provisional qualifying mark in the 60 hurdles indoors.
Norton was a provisional qualifier indoors in both the 3,000 and 5,000.
To earn All-Academic Team status, programs must have a cumulative 2021-22 GPA of at least 3.0.
The MSU Denver women posted a 3.30 GPA for the academic year.
