@MSUDenverWGOLF: Botero in Fourth after Opening Day

Her round of 73 included three birdies

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Isabel Botero shot a 1-over-par 73 and is in fourth place after the opening day of the Nick Turner Invitational.

Botero birdied the first and 18th holes and added another birdie in between on the 6,077-yard Arroyo del Oso Golf Course.

"Isa played great today," MSU Denver coach Stef Ferguson said. "She was really steady with a lot of pars and just a few blemishes on the card. We are very happy for her. She's worked hard and it's so fun to see her success."

As a team, the Roadrunners are in ninth place in the 10-team field after recording a four-player score of 28-over 316. The Roadrunners are just 15 strokes out of third place.

Vaijayanti Bharkhada shot 79 and is tied for 38th, while Sydney Eye is tied for 40th at 9-over. Neige Dunn had the team's No. 4 score at 11-over.

"Overall we didn't have a very good day and need to make some adjustments for tomorrow," Ferguson said. "Luckily it's a two-day event and we have time to move up the leaderboard."
