@MSUDenverWGOLF: Botero Finishes Second with Second-Best Tournament Score in Program History

Bharkhada adds second-round score of 3-under

GOODYEAR, Ariz. – MSU Denver's Isabel Botero shot a solid second-round score of 1-over-par 73 to finish second on Tuesday at the RJGA Shootout at Estrella.

The second-place finish matched the best by an MSU Denver golfer since Jennifer Hankins won the 2018 Maverick Spring Invitational, and her two-round score of 3-under par 141 is the second-best 36-hole total in program history, behind the 4-under 140 Hankins shot at a tournament Sept. 12-13, 2017.

"We are so proud of Isa," MSU Denver coach Stef Ferguson said. "She finished with a personal best two-day total and played great golf both days. To have only one bogey and one double in two rounds is stellar. It's tough to not win, but we are so excited for her!"

Meanwhile, Vaijayanti Bharkhada shot a second-round score of 3-under 69 on Tuesday to vault into a tie for 16th individually at 3-over 147.

"V has been so close to breaking par, so we are so excited for her to finally break through and in such a big way," Ferguson said. "I think this will be a good confidence boost for both her and Isa."

Despite an outstanding team total of 29-over 605 that matches the second-best two-round tournament score in program history, the Roadrunners finished only 12th overall in a loaded 14-team field. Significantly, though, MSU Denver was only six strokes behind CSU Pueblo and one behind Colorado Christian, the teams picked to finish first and second, respectively, in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.

Sydney Eye tied for 58th at 78-79-157 and Mackenzie Carpenter tied for 67th at 160 at the 6,095-yard Golf Club of Estrella course.

"As far as the team goes we overall played pretty well," Ferguson said. "It was tough to finish the way we did, but we are seeing a lot of good things."
