GOLDEN, Colo. – Grace Solarin's latest program record in the weight throw didn't last long.
One week after establishing yet another school mark, Solarin blew that standard away with a fifth-place hurl of 16.57 meters (54 feet, 4 ½ inches) on Saturday at the Mines Winter Classic. Solarin surpassed the mark she set last week by 3 feet, 7 inches (1.1 meters).
Also Saturday, school-record holder
Maya Ries turned in her third- and fourth-fastest times ever in the 60 hurdles, racing to a second-place finish of 8.80 seconds after qualifying for the final in 8.83. The provisional qualifying time for NCAA Division II Nationals is 8.84, but with the conversion for altitude, Ries just missed that standard.
