Naleia Sowell are among the top performers on day one of the UC-Colorado Springs Pre-Holiday Invitational & Multi.
Chavez broke the tape in the women's 800 meters, crossing the line in a time of 2:27.02. The La Junta, Colorado native had four of the top nine finishes in the event last season, with her best showing coming at the Gorilla Classic where she finished in a time of 2:20.16.
"I truly feel happy with my performance today," Chavez said. "The commitment that I had was definitely shown throughout my whole race.
