GOLDEN, Colo. – Mia Salas and
Maya Ries won their events while
Naleia Sowell posted an outstanding career best time to highlight MSU Denver's performances Saturday at the Mines Pre-Conference meet.
Salas won the mile in 5 minutes, 3.83 seconds and Ries won the 60-meter hurdles in 8.78 – one of the school record holder's better times.
Meanwhile, Sowell was second in the 60 in 7.85, a time that makes her tied for third among all individuals in the event in program history. Only
Claire Hummel (who won Saturday while running unattached) and
Jaivion Lattimore have turned in faster times for MSU Denver.
For the men, freshmen
Owen Clarke and
Kevin Tashie finished 2-3 in the 60 with personal-best times of 7.05 and 7.09, respectively, and
Anthony Martinez was second in the 60 hurdles in 8.33.
Isaiah Williams was fourth in the high jump at 1.92 meters (6 feet, 3 ½ inches).
