LITCHFIELD PARK, Ariz. – MSU Denver struggled through the front nine on Thursday but made solid improvements on the back and finds itself tied for sixth after the first day of the SMSU Challenge.
"The weather was really tough for the first 10 holes today," MSU Denver coach Stef Ferguson said. "We had on and off rain and two lightning delays. It just took the girls out of their rhythm."

Neige Dunn was solid throughout her round, with two birdies on the front nine, and is tied for sixth individually after shooting a 4-over-par 76.
"I'm really proud of Neige for how she played today," Ferguson said. "She stayed really steady all day."
Isabel Botero parred all nine holes on the back nine, and
Sydney Eye played the back in 3-over – both are tied for 24
th after shooting 9-over 81s.
The tournament, MSU Denver's first since October, on the 5,801-yard Wigwam Golf Club Blue Course wraps up Friday.
MSU Denver's five-player score of 36-over 324 is just nine strokes out of second place.
"We had a lot of rust," Ferguson said. "We're looking forward to improvement tomorrow."
