Neige Dunn followed up her first-round 76 with a 5-over-par 77 and finished fifth at the SMSU Challenge.
As a team, the Roadrunners shaved 10 strokes off their first-round score and shot 30-over 314 as they moved up to finish fifth overall in the 12-team field with a two-day total of 62-over 638.
Dunn recorded her first top-10 finish with a solid round that included three birdies. She was 3-over on the front nine and 2-over on the back to complete her two-day total of 9-over 153 on the 5,801-yard Wigwam Golf Resort's Blue Course.
"We are so proud of Neige for how steady she played this week," MSU Denver coach Stef Ferguson said. "She was very consistent and played really well. A top-10 finish for her is going to be a big confidence boost."
Vaijayanti Bharkhada had a wild finish, with three birdies and a triple-bogey over her last four holes, to turn in MSU Denver's best score of the day at 76. She tied for 27
th overall at 171.
Sydney Eye birdied her last two holes to tie for 33
rd at 174, and
Isabel Botero tied for 35
th at 175.
Mackenzie Carpenter played her final 13 holes at even par and was 41
st with 178.
"V and Mack both played much better today - especially the last couple of holes V had," Ferguson said.
MSU Denver will stick around and play another two-day tournament on the same course starting Monday.
"Overall we still just made too many mistakes and it caught up with us," Ferguson said. "We have a practice day tomorrow before our practice round Sunday and can hopefully make some good improvements."
