TUCSON, Ariz. – Mackenzie Carpenter shot a 4-over-par 76 on Tuesday as the MSU Denver women's golf team improved upon its first-round score by 16 strokes and moved up to a tie for 16
th at the WT Desert Invitational.
Isabel Botero followed up her first-round 79 with a 5-over 77 and finished tied for 28
th individually for the tournament at 12-over.
"I'm happy for Mack, she had a great round today," MSU Denver coach Stef Ferguson said. "And Isa had a really nice stretch of holes in there as well."
Carpenter tied for 54
th individually at 17-over,
Vaijayanti Bharkhada tied for 65
th at 20-over, and
Sydney Eye tied for 86
th at 27-over.
As a team the Roadrunners recorded a four-player score of 318 Tuesday and finished at 76-over 652. Their 318 ranked 14
th among teams on Tuesday.
"Overall we had a rough tournament," Ferguson said. "Day one just put us in a bad position, and we couldn't crawl out of that hole.
"We are looking forward to a better next few days in Phoenix."
MSU Denver plays Friday and Saturday at the RJGA Palm Valley Classic in suburban Goodyear, Ariz.
