GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Grace Solarin set a program record and picked up three points with a sixth-place finish in the hammer throw to lead MSU Denver on Friday at the RMAC Outdoor Championships.
Solarin tossed the hammer 50.12 meters (164 feet, 5 inches), topping the school standard of 48.03 (157-7) she set last Friday.
Also scoring for MSU Denver on Friday was freshman
Isaiah Williams, who tied for sixth in the men's high jump with an effort of 1.89 (6-2 ½), earning 2 ½ points for the team.
Meanwhile, in the women's 400-meter preliminaries,
Naleia Sowell just missed breaking her own school record, running a sparkling 55.46 seconds (her best is 55.45) to qualify first for the final.
Allyssa Romero qualified with the sixth-best time of 57.19.
Jocelyn Korbe tied her personal best while finishing 12
th in the women's high jump at 1.52 (4-11 ¾). She ranks fourth individually in program history in the event.
Also of note,
Sean Pecenka ran a personal-best 55.90 to finish 11
th in the 400 men's hurdles. And, in the men's 10,000,
Brenden Sands was 14
th in 31:49.93, moving into seventh place individually in program history in the event.
