GOODYEAR, Ariz. – Sydney Eye and
Neige Dunn both shot rounds of 2-over-par 74 as MSU Denver improved by 11 strokes over its first-round team scored and moved up three places to finish 15
th on Saturday at the RJGA Palm Valley Classic.
"Syd and Neige had great days today," MSU Denver coach Stef Ferguson said. "They both played more aggressively and it paid off."
Eye finished the two-round tournament at 7-over 151 to tie for 38
th in the 108-player field. Her Saturday round included 14 pars and a birdie.
Dunn had an eagle 3 on the par-5 14
th hole and also mixed in two birdies in her 74. Her two-day total of 10-over 154 was good for a tie for 52
nd, which also included teammate
Isabel Botero, who shot back-to-back 77s.
As the team, the Roadrunners' four-player score of 16-over 304 Saturday put their two-day total at 619.
"This is a really tough field and I'm proud of the girls for moving up some today," Ferguson said. "Yesterday we didn't finish well but stayed more steady today."
Vaijayanti Bharkhada shot 7-over Saturday to finished tied for 85
th at 161.
The Roadrunners play next at the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championship from April 21 through 23.
"All of the girls are doing some really great stuff leading up to conference," Ferguson said. "We just need to put it all together."
