@MSUDenverXCTF: Roadrunners Set Four School Records, Close out UCCS Invite

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- MSU Denver Track and Field turned in a strong weekend performance at the UCCS Holiday Invite on Friday and Saturday morning, highlighted by two school records and several podium finishes as the Roadrunners continued their indoor season.

The biggest moments of the meet came in the combined events and the high jump. Kathryn Rust delivered a historic showing in the women's pentathlon, piling up 3,236 points to set a new MSU Denver school record. Rust was steady across all five events, placing near the top in the 60-meter hurdles (8.98), shot put (11.45 meters), and high jump (1.55 meters), while battling through the long jump and 800 meters to secure the record-setting total. On the men's side, Isaiah Williams soared to a winning clearance of 2.07 meters (6'9.50") in the high jump, breaking his own previous school record, claiming first place in the event, and met the NCAA provisional qualifying mark. Kai Luna soared to a school-record mark in the men's triple jump, which also met the NCAA's provisional mark.

The men's team also found success in the throws and sprints. Brandon Simpson led the Roadrunners in the weight throw with a fourth-place finish at 14.00 meters, while Andre Henry paced MSU Denver in the shot put with a fifth-place mark of 14.20 meters. On the track, Anthony Martinez and

Sean Pecenka advanced through the prelims of the 60-meter hurdles before finishing second (8.25) and fourth (8.42) in the finals. Kevin Tashie was a standout in the short sprints, advancing to the finals of the 60 meters and later placing fifth in the 200 meters with a time of 22.85. Kai Luna added a solid sixth-place finish in the triple jump at 14.60 meters.

The women's squad saw strong performances across multiple events, led by Arianna Toaipa, who won the 400 meters in 1:00.48 to headline the running events. Raegan Moran reached the finals of the 60 meters and later competed in the 200 meters, while Andrea Davis established a new school record in the high jump, continuing a strong start to the indoor season for the Roadrunners.

In the field events, Raziah Hyslop competed in both the weight throw and shot put, while Breauna Sorensen and Chloe

Meldahl represented MSU Denver in the long jump. With school records falling and multiple athletes placing near the top of their respective events, the UCCS Holiday Invite marked a productive early-season meet for MSU Denver.

The Roadrunners will look to build on this momentum as they continue their indoor schedule in January and chase more program milestones in the weeks ahead.
