ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico – The Roadrunners had an outstanding showing at the Don Kirby Invitational this past weekend.
Naleia Sowell once again led the way for MSU Denver, as the senior broke the program's records in both the 200 and 400 meters. While Sowell finished 23
rd overall in the 200 meters, and her time of 25.24 broke the previous record held by
Allyssa Romero. Romero ran a 25.36 mark in Pittsburg, Kansas in February of last year. Sowell's previous fastest time was 25.36.
In the 400, Sowell broke the tape in her heat finishing in a time of 55.64 seconds, which breaks her own school mark of 55.94 seconds. She previously bested her school record back in January at the Potts Invitational in Boulder. Her current time places her in the top-30 runners in Division II.
And speaking of breaking records, Kenny Greene has done it once again, this time besting his own 200-meter record by racing to a 21.47 mark. Greene had broken the Roadrunner record one month ago at the Colorado Classic when he ran 21.54. He now sits in the top-35 of all Division II.
Lushous Davis reached a personal best in the weight throw hitting a 16.16 meter mark, which places her top-10 in the RMAC. She also hit a personal best in the shot put (12.19 meters), which places her in the top-five of the conference.
Kevin Tashie hit 49.34 seconds in the men's 400 meters and currently sits top-15 in the RMAC
The Roadrunners will next head to Gunnison, Colorado for the RMAC Last Chance Qualifier to try and improve on some times before the RMAC Championships in two weeks.
