BOULDER — The MSU Denver indoor track and field team opened competition at day one of the Potts Invitational on Friday afternoon, competing across multiple field events against a strong field of regional programs.
The Roadrunners saw solid efforts in the high jump, led by Isaiah Williams on the men's side. Williams cleared 1.91 meters (6'3.25") to place sixth in the event. On the women's side, Andrea Davis finished fourth overall after clearing 1.61 meters (5'3.25"), while Kathryn Rust posted a mark of 1.51 meters (4'11.50") to place seventh. Rust's clearance now stands as the fourth-best high jump mark by a Roadrunner this season.
Kai Luna represented MSU Denver in the men's long jump, recording a leap of 6.23 meters (20'5.25") to finish third. The women's long jump group was led by Breauna Sorensen, who placed 15th with a jump of 4.64 meters (15'2.75"). Ajla Ceric followed in 16th at 4.57 meters, with Chloe Meldahl (4.33m) and Jaelyn Korbe (4.10m) rounding out the event for the Roadrunners.
In the throwing events, Brandon Simpson led MSU Denver in the men's shot put with a toss of 13.41 meters (44'0"), placing 17th, while Andre Henry finished just behind at 13.36 meters (43'10"). Raziah Hyslop competed in the women's shot put, recording a mark of 10.47 meters (34'4.25") to place 12th.
The men's weight throw featured three Roadrunners, with Simpson again leading the way at 14.12 meters (46'4"), good for 14th place. Henry finished 17th with a throw of 11.97 meters, and Jacob Bowler followed at 11.39 meters. Hyslop also competed in the women's weight throw, posting a mark of 13.83 meters (45'4.50") to finish 13th.
MSU Denver will continue competition at the Potts Invitational with day two events on Saturday, starting at 11 a.m. MT.
