BOULDER — MSU Denver indoor track and field wrapped up day two of the Potts Invitational on Saturday in Boulder with a full slate of sprints, hurdles, middle distance and distance events, highlighted by multiple season-best performances across the roster.
The Roadrunners saw a strong showing in the men's 60-meter hurdles, where Anthony Martinez turned in the fastest time by an MSU Denver athlete this season, clocking 8.17 in prelims to place fifth overall. Martinez advanced to the final and finished seventh, while Brandon Aviles (8.57) and Aden Guenther (8.59) added solid efforts in a deep field.
On the women's side, Kathryn Rust continued her productive weekend in the hurdles, earning a third-place finish in the final of the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.96. Rust also posted a 9.08 in prelims, while Jaelyn Korbe rounded out the event for MSU Denver.
The Roadrunners were well represented in the 60 meters, with Akinwale Williams and Kevin Tashie both posting matching times of 7.14 to lead the men. Martinez, Kai Luna, and De'Aundrae Harris followed closely behind in a crowded sprint field. On the women's side, Jessica Hobson advanced to the final and placed eighth overall, posting a 7.98 in prelims, while Raegan Moran also recorded a 7.98 in her heat.
In the 400 meters, Kenny Greene delivered one of the day's top performances, finishing fifth in the men's race with a time of 47.69. Arianna Toaipa led the women with a sixth-place finish in 58.16, as Rust and Malaya Thomas also competed in the quarter-mile.
Middle-distance action featured Elijah Garcia, who placed seventh in the men's 800 meters with a time of 1:55.86, while Eisen Dacus doubled back later in the day to compete in both the 800 and the mile. Dacus clocked 4:28.24 in the mile, adding valuable experience against a large field.
The sprints continued to shine in the 200 meters. Kevin Tashie recorded the fastest 200-meter time by a Roadrunner this season, finishing in 22.48. On the women's side, Toaipa posted the top MSU Denver mark of the season in the event at 26.63, narrowly edging Hobson and Moran in a tightly packed race.
Distance runners closed the day with steady performances in the 3,000 meters. Jordan Duran led the men with an eighth-place finish in 8:41.05, while Paige Tack paced the women, placing seventh in 10:17.46.
The Roadrunners will take momentum from their season-best times and podium finishes as they continue the indoor season, building toward upcoming meets later this month.
