The No. 12 Metro State women's soccer team (3-1-1) used two goals from junior Becca Mays to defeat Grand Canyon, 3-1, Sunday afternoon at Auraria Field.

Mays struck just three minutes into the game, taking a pass from Courtney Ryan at midfield and firing a shor past the Grand Canyon goalkeeper. The Lopers got a goal on their own in the 23rd minute to tie the game at 1-1. The 'Runners would go up for good after Ashley Nemmers took a corner kick from Gabby Klipp and found Mays for her second goal of the day. Vanessa Mais would put the game away with a penalty kick goal in the 49th minute of the game.

The 'Runners now begin Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play by travelling to New Mexico Highlands on Friday, Sept. 12th. The game is scheduled for a 2 p.m. start.
