DENVER -
Regis University stunned No. 11 Metro State 2-1 in double overtime at Regis on Wednesday to hand the Roadrunners their first losing streak since 2001.  Metro State dropped to 9-2-2 overall and 5-2-2 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, while Regis improved to 10-4-0 and 7-2-0.

The Roadrunners lost 1-0 at No. 7 Fort Lewis on Sunday.  The last time they lost consecutive games was in October, 2001.

The two teams played an even first half, but Madison McQuilliams (Bakersfield, Calif./Bakersfield H.S.) broke the scoreless tie, scoring unassisted in the 43rd minute.  McQuilliams dribbled the ball into the left side of the box and ripped her shot into the upper-right corner of the net.  Earlier in the first half McQuilliams had a shot hit the post.

After entering the half trailing 1-0, the Rangers wasted no time tying the game, as Jordan Miller connected on a cross from Marissa Davis in front of the net to even the score.

Regis controlled play for the next 30 minutes until Ashley Nemmers (Arvada, Colo./Arvada West H.S.) had a run after a through ball in the 78th minute, but Regis goalkeeper Ellen Augsburger was there for the stop.  Augsburger came up huge in the 84th minute to keep the game tied, making a diving save to deflect Becca Medina (Denver, Colo./Heritage H.S.)'s free kick from 20 yards out at the top of the box.

As the game moved to overtime, McQuilliams had another excellent chance as she ripped a shot from 25 yards out just high.

The Rangers ended the game just 22 seconds into the second overtime as Meghan Stuart was able to walk the ball into the net after receiving a cross from Miller in front of the net.

Each team had 16 shot attempts in the game, but Metro State held a 7-4 edge on shots on goal.

Metro State will host Colorado State-Pueblo at 1 p.m. on Friday.
