COLORADO SPRINGS -
Metro State lost its first-ever game to UC-Colorado Springs on Sunday, falling 3-1 in Colorado Springs.  It was the eighth meeting between the two schools.  The Roadrunners dropped to 12-4-1 overall and 8-4-1 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, while UCCS improved to 8-7-1 and 4-7-1.

Metro State came out strong, dominating the first 10 minutes of the game, outshooting the Mountain Lions 4-2 during that stretch, including a shot by Karisa Price (Gilbert, Ariz./Highland H.S.) that hit the post just four minutes in.

But a foul on Hayley Marsh (Littleton, Colo./Chatfield H.S.) in the box at 10:45 gave UCCS a penalty kick and Agnes Arnadottir converted, changing the momentum.  UCCS controlled possession the rest of the half.  The Mountain Lions nearly stretched the lead to 2-0 when Michael' Ann Karas (Arvada, Colo./Faith Christian H.S.) kicked a sure-goal away at the goal line in the 24th minute, but UCCS finally did take a 2-0 lead at 30:58 when Jessica Escobedo finished a cross from Julia Saenz.

Metro State cut the lead in half just six minutes into the second half when a Roadrunner was taken down in the box and Abby Rolph (Golden, Colo./Golden H.S.) converted the ensuing penalty kick.  Just one minute later, Karisa Price (Gilbert, Ariz./Highland H.S.) had a point-blank header that was stopped by UCCS goalkeeper Jessica Taylor to keep the Roadrunners from tying the score.

A Mountain Lion score again changed the momentum and stretched the lead back to 3-1 when Hannah Rather put in Saenz's corner kick at 64:32.  UCCS took control of possession back once again and outshot the Roadrunners 3-2 the rest of the way.

Danielle Quigley (Arvada, Colo./Arvada West H.S.) made three saves for the Roadrunners, including two leaping saves to poke hard-driven shots over the crossbar in the second half.

Metro State will host No. 19 Colorado Mines at 3:30 p.m. on Friday for its final regular season game of the year.
