Women's soccer: Farley scores lone goal in 1-1 tie against Adams State

DENVER- Brandi Farley (Colorado Springs/Pine Creek H.S.) scored the lone goal for the Roadrunners as Metro State tied Adams State 1-1 on Friday afternoon.  The tie moved the Roadrunners' record to 4-0-3 overall and 2-0-1 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.  The tie moved the Grizzlies' record to 3-2-2 overall and 0-1-2 in RMAC play.

Farley got the scoring going early for the Roadrunners as she scored in the fourth minute of the game off a pass from Abby Rolph (Golden, Colo./Golden H.S.).  Farley's shot hit off the Grizzlies goalie and carried into the goal off the momentum of the shot.

Metro State was unable to score another goal in the first half despite outshooting Adams State 10-2 for the half. 

In the second half, Metro State again controlled the pace of the game as it lead Adams State with a 13-4 shots advantage but was unable to score on any of its opportunities.  Adams State however, was able to score on its best opportunity of the game as Dezirae Armijo scored off a free kick that scored just above a leaping Nicole Jablonski (White Lake, Mich./Walled Lake Northern H.S.) in the 66th minute.

As neither team was able to score throughout the remainder of the half, the game went to overtime.  It was the fourth overtime game in which the Roadrunners have played in this season.

Despite outshooting the Grizzlies 5-1 for both overtime periods, the Roadrunners were unable to score another goal and the game ended in a 1-1 tie. 

Jablonski had three saves in goal during her 73 minutes of play and was replaced by Karisa Fernandez (Westminster, Colo./Standley Lake H.S.) who recorded 1 save throughout the remainder of the game. 

Overall for the game, the Roadrunners held a 28-7 shot advantage over the Grizzlies including a 12-5 advantage of shots on goal.  Metro State also had a 9-1 corner kick advantage over Adams State for the game. 

Metro State will be back in action on Sunday when it heads to New Mexico to take on New Mexico Highlands at 2 p.m.
